New certification will provide assurance for EHR users

The Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) for Health Information Technology published today in the federal register a final rule that will establish a permanent certification program for health information technology applications, particularly electronic health records systems and modules. ONC expects the permanent certification program will begin on Jan. 1, 2012.
